Yamanashi is Japan's most famous wine region, located south of Mount Fuji with volcanic soils and a varied climate. The region is home to the indigenous Koshu grape variety which produces delicate white wines with citrus, peach and mineral notes. Many of Japan's oldest and most prestigious wineries are here including Château Mercian and Suntory Tomi no Oka.
